Ruth Heim, PhD, FACMG

Dr Heim graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, with a First Class BSc(Hons) degree and a PhD in human molecular genetics. Dr Heim is a diplomate of the ABMGG, a fellow of the ACMG, and is certified by the New York State Department of Health as a director of genetic testing (molecular) and molecular and cellular tumor markers. She completed postdoctoral fellowship training in clinical molecular genetics at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Dr Heim serves as senior director and national co-discipline director of molecular genetics and genomics. She is a member of the ACMG and the ASHG. She has authored more than 60 articles and abstracts published in such journals as Genetics in Medicine, Nature Genetics, Prenatal Diagnosis, and Clinical Chemistry.

Dr Heim raised two boys in Massachusetts and currently lives North Carolina. When not working, Dr Heim enjoys travel, visiting family in Australia, reading fiction especially Sci-Fi, and watching and participating in the performing arts especially dance.
