Dr Walker is a diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry in toxicological chemistry and a fellow of the Association for Diagnostics and Laboratory Medicine. She has an undergraduate degree in medical technology from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, where she also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in pharmacokinetics.

Dr Walker has worked in the field of toxicology for more than 30 years. She is currently the global technical director of clinical and workplace toxicology and a discipline director for clinical toxicology for Labcorp. She is a member of the American Pharmacists Association, American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the Association for Diagnostics and Laboratory Medicine.
