Nephrotic syndrome, NPHS1-related is an inherited disorder characterized by progressive kidney disease. It is caused by a defect in the production of a protein called nephrin that is essential for normal kidney function. Symptoms associated with nephrotic syndrome type 1 are attributed to the kidney’s inability to maintain normal blood protein levels.
