Turnaround Time

7 - 14 days Turnaround time is defined as the usual number of days from the date of pickup of a specimen for testing to when the result is released to the ordering provider. In some cases, additional time should be allowed for additional confirmatory or additional reflex tests. Testing schedules may vary.

Special Instructions

Time sensitive; specimens must be received within four days of collection. In warm weather or if shipping frozen, ship with cold packs.

If not able to ship same day drawn, aliquot and store serum frozen prior to shipment. Please add a comment to Test Requisition that sample was stored frozen.

Causes for Rejection

Gross hemolysis; gross lipemia; quantity not sufficient for analysis; improper container; past viability window; unlabeled or mislabeled specimen.

Collection

Centrifuge 15 minutes at 1,000 g and store SST tube refrigerated prior to shipment (Do not freeze SST tube).
